Performance details:
There may be opportunities for haumana to share what they have learned throughout their hālau studies. The point in performance is to give a good representation of hula and the Hawaiian culture; therefore, acquired knowledge, self-confidence, and dedication are key. Please ensure your child practices at home regularly, even if it’s ten minutes every other day. If we do not hire out for a seamstress, costume workshops will be scheduled and will also give us a chance to spend time as a group. Although I will try to keep it to a minimum, fundraising (making and selling lei, crafts, food, etc.) and extra practices may be necessary. Absences and non-participation will likely result in non-performance. During a performance, kōkua (assistance) backstage from “hula moms” (and dads) may be necessary. Please note: Performance participation is always up to instructor's discretion. :)
Notes for all performances:
-No jewelry or nail polish. Please remove before day of show.
-No gum
-Please place ironed costumes in order before arriving, and keep things compact. We sometimes do not know how much space we will have in the dressing room
